Tempestuous (Wondrous Strange #3)

Tempestuous by Lesley Livingston
★★★★☆
Publisher: Harper Teen
Genre: YA Fantasy

As far as the Wondrous Strange series goes I was kind of disappointed with this ending. I feel like Livingston let me down. The build up to this book was left to merely fizzle out on it's own. It was still a good book, and had some resolution but I wanted so much more from a series this great the ending should have gone out with a bang. Lesley Livingston is a great writer.

Kelley Winslow, powerful fairy princess, let sonny flannery, gorgeous Janus guard, know she doesn't love him. Heart broken he wanders around NY looking for answers to what caused this rift between them because he honestly can't remember. He befriends some lost fae and finds out his "friends" in the janus guard may be up to no good.

This book seriously reminded me of New Moon in that "I'm going to break your heart because its good for you" kind of way. The only difference it is has much better writing :)

Bob, probably my favorite character, shows up again and so does everyone from the first two books. There's not much more I can talk about without ruining the ending.

It really is a fantastic series, wonderfully written and fun. One to definitely check out, read all 3, in order

Some other excellent fairy stories to check out are: Lament by Maggie Stiefvater (author of the Wolves of Mercy Falls books: Shiver and Linger, also good stories), Spell Hunter by R.J. Anderson, and Glimmerglass by Jenna Black.

It's a TBR Thursday

Funny story (also kind of gross), completely unrelated to my books to be read but I feel that I must share. Kids are gross. We all know this. We were all there.

One of the pre-K students at school had her hands in her mouth. I thought she was chewing on something, but when I asked her what she had in her mouth she told me "nothin', just trying to clean the dirt off my fingers." Yes. True story. She was using her mouth to clean the dirt off of her fingers. Now that you are completely grossed out, as I was, here are my TBR books.

TBR Thursday is a weekly post hosted by Book Love Blog
Post about all the books in all forms and from all sources that you received/bought/picked up to read in the last week.

This week I have picked up two books; Nevermore by Kelly Creagh and Tempestuous (Wondrous Strange #3) by Lesley Livingston at the library. The reviews on both are through the roof and I can't wait to [hopefully] enjoy them for myself!

Tempestuous
"I don't love Sonny Flannery."
That's the lie Kelley Winslow told to protect the boy she loves from a power he doesn't know he possesses. Devastated, Sonny retreats—to a haven for Lost Fae that's hidden deep underneath New York City.
But Kelley's not about to let things end in heartbreak. To get Sonny back, she's got to find out who's after his magick—and how to use her own. She's got to uncover who's recruiting Janus Guards to murderously hunt innocent Faerie. She's got to help rebuild the shattered theater company she called family. And she's got to do it all without getting dangerously distracted by the Fennrys Wolf, whose legendary heart of stone seems to melt whenever he's around Kelley.

Nevermore
Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.
Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
His life depends on it.

What I Thought

Synopsis Goodreads

I loved Wondrous Strange and couldn't wait to get my hands on Darklight. The writing is fantastic and fast paced, plenty of love and action. Just an all around fun series that I recommend for anyone.

We get to follow Kelley and Sonny as they travel between the two worlds. The Otherworld reminded me of the Nevernever in Iron King, only not as dreary. Livingston's writing makes me feel like I'm there. I love all of the characters in this series so far and Bob is one of my favorites!

Read the first book and then this one, there is much you need to know from Wondrous Strange before moving on! I shall go and buy Tempestuous soon.

Loved this one!!
