One hour to rewrite the past . . . For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back. So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past. Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened? Full of atmosphere, mystery, and romance, Hourglass merges the very best of the paranormal and science-fiction genres in a seductive, remarkable young adult debut.

Carly Wheeler lives a charmed life. Her mother is a stylist for the soap opera Lovelock Falls, she lives in a nice house, and goes to an excellent private school. But when her mom is arrested and charged with embezzlement, everything starts to unravel. There are shocking stories about her mother's crimes in the local newspaper. Carly's friends start avoiding her. And her stepfather starts worrying about money. How can Carly put her life back together when it feels like she's missing all the pieces?

Chloe's older sister, Ruby, is the girl everyone looks to and longs for, who can't be captured or caged. When a night with Ruby's friends goes horribly wrong and Chloe discovers the dead body of her classmate London Hayes left floating in the reservoir, Chloe is sent away from town and away from Ruby. But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await. As Chloe flirts with the truth that Ruby has hidden deeply away, the fragile line between life and death is redrawn by the complex bonds of sisterhood. With palpable drama and delicious craft, Nova Ren Suma bursts onto the YA scene with the story that everyone will be talking about.

"Every single lifetime, I'll choose you. Just as you have chosen me. Forever."Luce would die for Daniel. And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . . .Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last. Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history. Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.

Any book whose birthday is not today, we wish these Future Favorites a Very Merry UnBirthday. Mainly I focus my UnBirthday wishes on books to be released the following Tuesday, in this case is Tuesday May 10th!!!

I am so excited for What Happened to Goodbye!! I love Sarah Dessen's writing, if you haven't read any of her stuff my two favorites are:
This Lullaby
The Truth About Forever
But all of her books are amazing!

Who is the real McLean? Since her parents' bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother's new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out. Combing Sarah Dessen's trademark graceful writing, great characters, and compelling storytelling, What Happened to Goodbye is irresistible reading.

“In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.” “When Kate Mercier’s parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life—and memories—behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent. Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate’s guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he’s a revenant—an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

Both books come out Tuesday May 10th, I can't wait!

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Very Merry UnBirthday (6)

Our UnBirthdays for this week Bumped (Bumped #1) by Megan McCafferty and Abandon by Meg Cabot, both TBR one week from today!
Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back. But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid. Onlyshe can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most. But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

When a virus makes everyone over the age of eighteen infertile, would-be parents are forced to pay teen girls to conceive and give birth to their children, making teens the most prized members of society. Sixteen-year-old identical twins Melody and Harmony were separated at birth and had never met until the day Harmony shows up on Melody’s doorstep. Until now, the twins have followed completely opposite paths. Melody has scored an enviable conception contract with a couple called the Jaydens. While they are searching for the perfect partner for Melody to bump with, she is fighting her attraction to her best friend Zen, who is way too short for the job. Harmony has spent her whole life in religious Goodside, preparing to be a wife and mother. She believes her calling is to bring Melody back to Goodside and convince her that “pregging” for profit is a sin. But Harmony has secrets of her own that she is running from. When Melody is finally matched with the world-famous, genetically flawless Jondoe, both girls’ lives are changed forever. A case of mistaken identity takes them on a journey neither could have ever imagined, one that makes Melody and Harmony realize they have so much more than just DNA in common.

Very Merry UnBirthday (5)

I can't wait to see what Kelley Armstrong, author of the Darkest Powers series, has in-store for us this time!!

While there aren't any titles to mention for next weeks birthdays, today's un or non birthdays. There is one book I really want to check out.
Libba Bray, author of the Gemma Doyle series, who happens to be a great writer has a "sure to be amazing" book coming out May 24th 2011. Keep an open mind.

The story of a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes on a desert island. Teen beauty queens. A "Lost"-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

YES! A Lord of the Flies with teenage beauty queens! I don't know about you, but I'm excited!! Come on May 24th!!!

Very Merry UnBirthday (4)

Happy Happy Birthday!!!!

Today is a spectacular day!!! It is the birthday of City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare and I am so excited!!! I pre-ordered mine and will have to wait for it to get here, which is no fun. I have other books to occupy my time while I wait though. I'm about 65% done with Tempestuous by Lesley Livingston. Should be done by tomorrow and then I'll be on my way to start Afterlife by Claudia Gray until my copy of CoFA gets here. ^_^ .

Now, some Hunger Games news, which a lot of you may already know. Peeta and Gale have officially been casted as of yesterday. Just thought I'd share.

Gale

Peeta
Peeta, being played by Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Kids are Alright). Personally I'd have maybe picked him for Gale and  and Liam Hemsworth(The Last Song) is playing Gale, who I'd have picked for Peeta. But, what do I know!

My Unfair Godmother Synopsis from Goodread:
Tansy Miller has always felt that her divorced father has never had enough time for her. But mistakenly getting caught on the wrong side of the law wasn't exactly how she wanted to get his attention. Enter Chrysanthemum "Chrissy" Everstar, Tansy's fairy in shining, er, high heels. Chrissy is only a fair godmother, of course, so Tansy's three wishes don't exactly go according to plan. And if bringing Robin Hood to the twenty-first century isn't bad enough for Tansy, being transported back to the Middle Ages to deal with Rumpelstiltskin certainly is. She'll need the help of her blended family, her wits, and especially the cute police chief 's son to stop the gold-spinning story from spinning wildly out of control. Janette Rallison pulls out all the stops in this fresh, fun-filled follow-up to the popular My Fair Godmother.

Many of you have read Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series, it's amazing if you haven't picked up the first book Summoning yet, go get it! This book, The Gathering, is the first in the Darkness Rising series, sure to be excellent as well.

The Gathering Synopsis from Goodread:

Strange things are happening in Maya's tiny Vancouver Island town. First, her friend Serena, the captain of the swim team, drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. Then, one year later, mountain lions are spotted rather frequently around Maya's home—and her reactions to them are somewhat . . . unexpected. Her best friend, Daniel, has also been experiencing unexplainable premonitions about certain people and situations.
It doesn't help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret, and he's interested in one special part of Maya's anatomy—her paw-print birthmark.

Both are due to release next Tuesday, April 12th!

Very Merry UnBirthday (3)

There are two note worthy books to be released next Tuesday April 5th. They are:

Cover Image

I must say I am waiting not so patiently for my copy of CoFA to get here... If you have yet to read the Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare, I suggest you drop everything you are doing and go out and get City of Bones. The first 3 books in the series (City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass) blew me away completely. Her newer series, the Infernal Devices, begins with The Clockwork Angel, and it so far is fantastic as well!!! I haven't read If I Stay yet but I know I will eventually.

Today is the Birthday of Entwined by Heather Dixon, another book I can't wait to read!

Currently I am about half way done with Nevermore and I am itching to talk about it. Back to reading I go...

3/22/2011

Very Merry UnBirthday (2)

With the release of The Dark and Hollow Places, Between Shades of Grey, and Wither comes the un-birthday of Entwined by Heather Dixon.

Synopsis from goodreads
Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it's taken away. All of it.
The Keeper understands. He's trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation.
Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest.
But there is a cost.
The Keeper likes to keep things.
Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.

Entwined comes out Tuesday March 29th!

Very Merry UnBirthday

Being the glorious Tuesday that it is, I decided to start a tradition on this new blog. Each Tuesday I will celebrate the UnBirthday of some books to be released the following week. This week I will quickly discuss much anticipated releases for next Tuesday March 22nd!!

A World War II novel about a 15 year old Lithuanian girl. Sure to bring tears and raw emotion.

It's Carrie Ryan, isn't that not enough? I admit The Forest of Hands and Teeth was a gory book to go through, but so worth it. Dead Tossed Waves was just as intense.

I know the book I am highly anticipating is The City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare, due to release 04/05/2011, but who isn't. Jace is another drool worthy fictional boyfriend of mine...
