Ava O'Brian is dealing with more than a teenager's typical temptations of right versus wrong. Ava is unaware she possesses a rare and unique gift, a soul with the ability to influence. Unfortunately, Satan will stop at nothing to gain control of her special ability. Ava's faith is seriously shaken when she is the sole survivor of the car accident that kills her father and twin brother. When she relocates and faces the ultimate temptation in Samuel Perry, her mysterious classmate living on earth since 1798 to tempt and damn mankind, Ava isn't sure she can resist. Sam must decide if he will lead Ava straight into the devil's trap or place his immortal existence on the line in order to keep her alive. What ultimate price is Ava willing to pay for love? What if it means giving up her life or turning over her soul straight into Satan's hands for the boy of her dreams?
True Intentions had me hanging on page after page. I honestly never saw the twists coming until they happened. Unpredictable, fast-paced, and at some points quite tear inducing. It is your typical paranormal romance: it has your bad boy, relatable girl, tragic past, and good vs. evil all in one amazing ya package. Oh, did I mention the love story, swoon worthy. Definitely a reread title. Yes, it's that good.
True Intentions is a quick read, but very enjoyable. At 257 pages it's shorter than a lot of books I've read lately. Not that that takes away from the story, but I did feel some parts moved too quickly. I am not easily convinced when reading and I didn't feel like the author took the time to describe certain parts or relationships in the story enough. I need more detail, plus I want more of this story! More Ava and Sam make for a happy Carole! Come on book 2!
While normally I don't talk about grammatical, spelling, or editing errors I always catch them, and make them (I'm a teacher what can I say). They rarely take away from the story for me and didn't in this case at all, but I will say they are there. No one's perfect, which is why I rarely mention this.
Can't wait for book 2, did I mention that already? Oh well, totally worth repeating.
Lisa Kuehne is heavenly. Her writing is beautiful and descriptive. I loved and lost with the characters she created. In this magnificent fantasy world where Dark Angels aren't as dark as they appear. Everyone has a story. The prologue alone is intoxicating, just read that and I don't think you'll be able to put this one down. If you are a paranormal romance fan, a ya fan, or a fantasy fan in general I recommend this book to you. A big thank you to the author, Lisa Kuehne, for giving me the opportunity to read and review her awesome book!! True Intentions get it, now!!

I hadn't heard of this previously, but after your review I might just have to add it to the TBR pile. :)
ReplyDeletePacing really throws me off when it's too rushed or too slow, so I can see how that might be a problem, but the story does sound interesting. Thanks for the review!
