Top Ten All Time Favorite Characters in Books
10?!? How can I come up with just 10!?! Here goes..

1. Yelena from The Study Series by Maria V. Snyder- She is one amazing heroine. I love everything she overcomes to become the rockstar that she is!

2. Katsa from Kristin Cashore's Graceling- Her grace is killing, I mean how awesome is that!

3. Katniss from Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games- I don't feel a reason is necessary.

4. Helen Hamilton of Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

5. Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green- I've never felt so much as I did when I read this book, and Augustus is such an amazing character.

6. Tris from Divergent by Veronica Roth- Because she's TRIS! Team Dauntless!!!

7. Duece from Enclave by Ann Aguirre- I want to be like her, no really, I do.

8. Chloe from The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong- She's just amazing :)

9. Juliette from Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me- To quote my review, "Juliette is fierce."

10. Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli- Because let's face it, who hasn't wanted to be Stargirl at least once in their life?

There are so so so many more, many of which I'm sure I'll be kicking myself that I forgot!

Top Ten Five Books That Were Totally Deceiving
These will be books that were either better or worse than I thought they would be. Some I categorized at first glance and shouldn't have, others had that word of mouth thing going for them and left me disappointed.

1. What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen- Since it is a Sarah Dessen novel I knew I was going to read it, no matter what the synopsis was, but when I got into the story I felt deflated. Not the best Dessen novel.

2. The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine- These books are deceiving in a good way. Going into book 1 I wasn't expecting much and immediately was sucked into the Morganville world.

3. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin- I am a frequent www.bookcloseouts.com shopper (if you haven't checked them out, DO SO!) and sometimes I come across books on there that I haven't heard of but that seem worth the chance (plus they're mostly so cheap). Elsewhere was one of those books. The cover is fun, and the plot seemed interesting, but it definitely wasn't my cup of tea.

4. Heavenly by Jennifer Laurens- The reviews for this book are awesome, it was free on Amazon so I thought, "Why not?". Well.. I was deceived.

5. XVI by Julia Karr- This book was so much more than I thought it was going to be. I was pretty stoked when I read it and enjoyed it as much as I did. It was definitely a good deception.

It's hard coming up with books that really had the upper hand on me. I'm a researcher, when I think about buying a book I mostly look it up all over the internet to make sure it's something I'm going to enjoy. Not to mention the fact that my husband is an accountant and I don't exactly get to spend money lightly, so when I do spend money I make sure it counts. The good deceptions are always a blast!

Top Ten Books To Read In A Day
So, for me, any great book can be read in a day. It doesn't matter how much I have going on, if I love or am completely hooked on a story I make time to read it as fast as possible. Then I sit back and wonder why I didn't let that greatness drag on. These are just a few of the books that I devoured in 24 hours (or less) or books that I could have and you can too!

1. Eternal Eden by Nicole Williams- Not just book one, but the whole series!
(I'm noticing an ebook pattern)
7. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
8. Golden Blood by Melissa Pearl- This is another series that I read in record time.
9. Enclave by Ann Aguirre- I feel like this book is underrated, it is so amazing!
10. Falling Under by Gwen Hayes

Top Ten Books I'd Play Hooky With
Some books I'd drop everything and read? Um, yes please.

1. My number one pick is Insurgent by Veronica Roth. When I get my hands on this book I JUST KNOW I won't be able to focus on anything else until I've read it cover to cover at least twice.

2. Slow Twitch by Liz Reinhardt. I lost a lot of sleep when reading the first two books and I know this one will cause many problems when it comes to my productivity.

3. The Calling by Kelley Armstrong, because it's Kelley Armstrong.

4. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, this book made me cry so much. It makes me want to have a meaningful life, and do things I want to do with my time alive. What I want to do is not work, so there.

5. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver. OH MY. How I wish I could just curl up all day, not teach, and reread that masterpiece that left my heart in pieces!

6. I think this one will probably be on a lot of lists, but I could be wrong. The Hunger Games trilogy are books that I'd definitely play hooky with!

7. Dreamless by Josephine Angelini! Oohh I can't wait to read it, I don't plan on doing anything else when I get my hands on that book!

8. Beautiful Chaos by Garcia & Stohl. This book has been on my shelf since release! I can't bring myself to read it because I know I'll be immersed in the book and accomplish nothing else!

9. The last (maybe) book in Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush trilogy series. Due to release around my birthday, do I hear gift ideas? I can't wait!

10. So I'm going to cheat a little and say all of Sarah Dessen's books. I know. I'm awful, such a rule breaker. I can't pick just one, but her books are some that I devote my full attention to, especially when it comes to ignoring other important tasks.

Top Ten books I want to give as gifts

1. Glass Houses by Rachel Caine- To my mom, while she would rather not read YA I've still gotten her to read some books (The Mortal Instruments Series, Poison Study, and more) and I think she would love this one if she gave it a chance.

2. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- To every Sarah Dessen lover I know, well anyone who loves contemporary romance!

3. The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong- To anyone who enjoys a fantastic story!

4. Paper Towns by John Green- For those looking for a laugh and an incredible journey.

5. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater- To my sister, who needs to find more time to read for enjoyment, I think this series will be a great start.

6. Unwind by Neal Shusterman- To my friends who love to read thought provoking books that leave you wondering what life would be like if the story was true.

7. Love the One You're With by Emily Giffin- For anyone who has ever been through a tough time and a rocky relationship.

8. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini- For all of the Helen's of Troy

9. Double Clutch by Liz Reinhardt- To my all of the teenagers out there, and the teenagers at heart. High school was, is, and always will be brutal. Liz makes the experience seem bearable with her tale of young love and hope.

10. Graceling by Kristin Cashore- I would gift this to anyone wanting a book to take them on an adventure.

Here are my Top Ten Childhood Favorites

1. Amelia's Notebook by Marissa Moss- This TTT is bringing back some amazing childhood memories. Reading has been a passion of mine for my entire life, I used to read a book a day in the summers as a child. Amelia's Notebook was such a fun and interesting book to read again and again with friends.

2. Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli- The book that began my love for Jerry Spinelli. I remember reading this in 5th grade in Mrs. Ennella's class (don't ask me how I remember her name). Such an amazing story and I challenge everyone to read it, if you haven't already!

3. The Lorax by Dr. Suess- I won't lie, this book still makes me an emotional wreck. It puts how important taking care of the environment is in a way children can understand it and I love reading it to my classes. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not.”

4. Halloween Party (Fear Street) by R.L. Stine- I was a big Goosebumps fan, I couldn't tell you the title of one Goosebumps book though. When I outgrew Goosebumps I moved into Fear Street. Halloween Party was one of the most memorable books I read growing up, it made me want to be a teenager (even with all of the horror).

5. Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein- As a child me and my sister would read this one with our mom over and over again. Shel Silverstein makes reading so much fun!

6. Beauty and the Beast- I love love love Beauty and the Beast, the book and movie. Disney stories overall are in my top books, but this one is my favorite of those. So magical, and my love for this one definitely made me love Beastly by Alex Flinn that much more when I read it.

7. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle- I love all of Eric Carle's books. This one sticks out in my mind, probably because I checked it out at the library constantly.

8.Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak- I loved this book! I even have wall clings for it :) I haven't put them up in my classroom yet.

9. Heidi by Johanna Spyri- There was something about Heidi that made me want to be just like her. I'm pretty sure this is one of the very first chapter books I read all the way through. It's a fantastic book!

10. The Babysitters Club by Ann M. Martin- Does this one even need an explanation?

Ten Books That I Read That Were Outside Of My Comfort Zone

I read an eclectic range of books. Nothing is off limits now, but these are some books that may have been firsts for me. Books that I may have been skeptic about at first and sometimes loved, sometimes not. These either opened my doors to new YA genres or scared me away (literally).

1. Behind Rebel Lines by Seymore Reit- Historical fiction is still not something that I normally pick up. This book is a great read and I enjoyed it, but it was definitely a stretch from what I normally read at the time.

2. Raven's Kiss by Tony LoTempio- While paranormal is my forte, adult books are not. I reviewed this book as a request from the author, I never would've gone out and buy it. It ended up being a good read and I'm glad I gave it a chance.

3. Nowhereville by Sean Campbell- I love fantasy books, but there's fantasy/supernatural and then there's sci-fi. I love sci-fi movies but I always find these kind of books hard to get into. This wasn't the case with Nowhereville, it's a great book for those of us interested in an easy version of the sci-fi adventures.

4. The Devouring by Simon Holt- Horror isn't something I watch or read. I saw this book on Book Closeouts and I think it was only a dollar or so, so I thought "Why not?". While it didn't change my view on horror books, still not a genre I prefer or really enjoy, it was a very interesting story.

5. The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan- Before this book I don't think I had read any "zombie" books at all. It was a gory horror filled element that gave me shivers just thinking about. Carrie Ryan changed my whole perspective and led me to open my eyes and read books like the magnificent Enclave by Ann Aguirre. The Forest of Hands and Teeth is a bone chilling and suspenseful tale of hope and courage and it's amazing. (I recently bought Ashes by Ilsa Bick and Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry to continue my undead journey)

6. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin- Elsewhere was another bargain buy. It sounded different, dead people and all, but I just didn't enjoy this one at all. It was missing something very important, I couldn't tell you what that is, but it was lacking.

7. Oh My Stars by Lorna Landvik- A historical realistic fiction with a flawed and relate-able slew of characters. A different read that was recommended to me. Eh. It was okay, I probably won't be reading anymore Lorna Landvik and I probably won't be reading anymore recommendations by said person.

8. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles- I normally avoid cliche type love stories based on classics like Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story, but I couldn't help giving this one a try. It's sappy and predictable but it will warm your heart.

9. Uninvited by Amanda Marrone- I read Uninvited because it sounded intriguing even though at the time I wasn't really into the paranormal books I was more a Sarah Dessen fan. It was hard to not laugh at the book honestly. It's one of the few books on my read shelf with 1 star, and one of the few books that most of my friends on goodreads have also given 1 or 2 stars.

10. My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares- I loved The Last Summer by Ann Brashares so I had to read My Name is Memory. It was my first love reincarnated type book and I loved it. Absolutely loved it!

Top ten books I had strong emotions over
that made me laugh, cry, and at times throw things.

1. Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler- The book for anyone who has ever been 16 and all of the tears we endure all over again.

2. Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder- Maria V. Snyder manages to create characters that are phenomenal. I felt for everyone of them. I felt their pain, misery, and happiness. All of her books have touched my heart but this one especially.

3. Enclave by Ann Aguirre- I remember wanting to throw my pillow across the room while reading this one. I was seriously screaming into the pillow in frustration.

4. The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares- It's a heart wrenching and hopeful book that had me both crying hysterically and laughing out loud.

5. Eternal Eden by Nicole Williams- I've said before how much I love her books, Nicole Williams is a wonderful story teller who traps the reader in her books. A definite must read.

6. Looking for Alaska by John Green- True to his legendary-self, John Green Looking for Alaska manages to tie the reader into the story, involve them in the heartbreak and everything else, and

7. Delirium by Lauren Oliver- It's a book about love and what the world would be like without it. Full of emotion that leaves the reader thinking about the story days after finishing it. It's fantastic and definitely an emotional roller coaster of ups and downs.

8. Forever (Wolves of Mercy Falls #3) by Maggie Stiefvater- This entire series should really be on here. Forever, the last book, especially. I love this series and feel very connected to the characters.

9. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- Talk about nail biting. This series makes me furious and exciting all on one page. Suzanne Collins is nothing short of GENIUS.

10. Divergent by Veronica Roth- Everything that Tris experiences is intense. Love, love, love this amazing book!
